Question

If I want to be able to have the system notify me when the date I'm supposed to contact a lead comes up, how would I do that?

Answer

The system can automatically create a notification in this situation using a date custom field for Contacts along with an automatic action that triggers based on that custom field. First, a date custom field will need to be created that applies to Contacts. This field will keep track of a date that will be used to determine when to create the system notifications. Afterwards, go to the Settings page and navigate to the Automatic Actions section. Then follow these steps for configuring the automatic action:

  1. Add a new automatic action by clicking the plus button. A popup window should appear.

  2. Add a date custom field trigger. The drop down option is "When the date for". After selecting, choose the appropriate Contact date custom field from the drop down and adjust the date related criteria to your preference.

  3. Add a condition to always run the event.

  4. Add an event for "Create a notification". Afterwards, there will be instructions regarding filling out the notification description.

  5. Appropriately name the automatic action and click submit.
