This article supplements the Adding Leases and Moving in Tenants article. Instead of creating a brand-new tenant, you can convert an existing lead (generated by a prospective tenant's contact information or application) or move in an existing tenant already in your system. To learn more about managing leads, see the Viewing and Editing Leads article.

Converting a Lead or Existing Tenant to a Tenant

When creating a new lease, the primary difference when adding a lead or existing tenant is selecting them from an existing list rather than entering new tenant details manually.

From the Marketing Page:

  1. Click on the three-dot menu located at the top-right corner.

  2. Select New Lease.

  3. Choose the relevant unit.

The system will automatically fill in the selected person's existing information. Note that you cannot edit their name, email, address, or phone number on this screen.

If you selected the wrong tenant or lead by mistake, click Clear Existing Tenant Data to reset your selection. Re-enter the name and select the correct tenant or lead again.

From Elsewhere on the Site:

  1. Begin typing the lead or tenant’s name. The system will display matching names in a dropdown list, showing the full name, email, and either "(contact)" or "(tenant)" designation.

  2. Click on the correct name from the list.

The system will then auto-fill the selected person’s existing information. Again, you cannot edit their name, email, address, or phone number on this screen.

If you selected the wrong tenant or lead by mistake, click Clear Existing Tenant Data to reset your selection. Re-enter the name and select the correct tenant or lead again.

Updating Tenant Information After Lease Creation

If you need to update tenant information after you have already completed creating the lease:

  1. Navigate to Lease > Details > Tenant’s Information.

  2. Edit and update any information as needed.
