Converting a Lead to a Tenant or Moving in Existing Tenants

Instructions on converting leads or existing tenants into active tenants when creating a lease.

Written by Conor Taliancich

This article supplements the Adding Leases and Moving in Tenants article. Instead of creating a brand-new tenant, you can convert an existing lead (generated by a prospective tenant's contact information or application) or move in an existing tenant already in your system. To learn more about managing leads, see the Viewing and Editing Leads article.

Converting a Lead or Existing Tenant to a Tenant

When creating a new lease, the primary difference when adding a lead or existing tenant is that you select the person from an existing list rather than entering all tenant details manually.

From the Marketing Page

  1. Go to Marketing.

  2. Select Leads.

  3. Select the lead you want to convert.

  4. Click New Lease.

  5. Select the unit for the new lease.

  6. Make sure the tenant listed is correct. If you have selected the right tenant, move on to Step 7. If you have selected the wrong tenant, you can select Clear Existing Tenant Data. Begin typing the tenant's name in the dropdown and click on the correct name to autofill the information.

  7. On the lease details step, enter the applicable lease information.

  8. On the schedule details step, enter the recurring charge schedule.

  9. Click Save to finish creating the lease.

Updating Tenant Information After Lease Creation

If you need to update tenant information after the lease has already been created:

  1. Go to the tenant or unit.

  2. Open the Details tab.

  3. Expand the tenant’s information section.

  4. Click the edit icon or menu option.

  5. Update the tenant’s information as needed.

  6. Click Save.
